Paper Transformation Processes and Related Paper Characteristics, 1997 Asian Laminates Symposium Proceedings

Technologies for converting of decorative papers and production of melamine overlayings have evolved considerably in the last ten years. Qualitative requirements for both papers and products have grown higher too. Papermakers have to consider more and more their customers’ requirements to adapt the paper to these new technologies and constraints. Also, this paper outlines how the papermakers have developed new measurements or adapted existing test methods to get a more accurate image of the “quality” of the decorative papers, correlate their ability to fulfil various uses and guarantee achieving good results by the end users.
