Release and Texturing Materials for Plastic Laminate, 1997 Asian Laminates Symposium Proceedings
This paper is intended to describe the variety of materials used in the high pressure, low pressure and continuous laminating process to achieve the desired texture on the laminates produced. The advantages and disadvantages of each of the materials available is discussed. A brief description of the ‘high pressure and continuous laminating processes is given as well as descriptions of the various plates, foils, release papers and belts that are available as surfacing and release materials. Trends and new products in the laminate market are discussed. In order to respond to the changing and dynamic forces in the marketplace, the laminator is faced with a choice of which system or material to use to create surfaces and textures that are in demand. This paper should help the laminator in his evaluation of the release and texturing materials available.
