Postforming laminates are steadily increasing as a percentage of the overall worldwide laminate business. This growth has been due both to demands from customers for surfaces with an enhanced appearance as well as a technical understanding of the requirements for laminate bending. The ability to bend laminates to increasingly tighter radii in both the forward and reverse directions over a wide temperature range is of great importance to virtually all decorative laminators. The market demands that this be achieved without the formation of surface defects. This presentation will summarize the worldwide markets for postforming laminates as well as technical developments in saturating kraft core stock to support the expansion of these markets.
