How to Adapt the MF Resin Cure to Suit Your Needs, 1997 Asian Laminates Symposium Proceedings
The degree of condensation of MF resins can be influenced by changing resin variables like condensation time, condensation pH, condensation temperature and F/M ratio. The final resin structure can be studied by e.g. NMR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and HPLC chromatography. Application of this knowledge is the subject of the present and future presentations.
In part 1 of this manuscript an example is given of how an MF resin with a consistent performance can be produced by controlling variations in raw materials and process conditions, such as catalyst content and temperature.
In part 2 of this paper the potential of Raman Spectroscopy for studying different degrees of curing in cured MF in resins, impregnated paper and laminate surfaces is demonstrated by establishing a relationship between the degree of cure of the resin and the post-formability of the laminate.
