Continuous Press Production the Evolution of Production Efficiency, 1998 Plastic Laminates Symposium Proceedings
Continuous production methods have usually replaced batch production over time because of the inherent efficiencies in the basic process. This was also true of continuous laminating techniques as the machines evolved from dedicated high production towards greater flexibility.
Today’s presses and production lines embody the evolution of the continuous process not only in typical steps such as wider, faster machines with more pressure but also having quicker changeover of raw material, a greater range of end use products, higher process capabilities, more efficient total manufacturing time and better utilization of the inventories and total capital employed.
Today’s installations allow for multiple products on a single press line as well as new product applications not available only a few years ago. Continuous production keeps changing to fit the requirements of the wood components businesses and industrial markets.
