Development of an Analitycal Method to Determine the Quantity of Urea in Balance Paper for Laminated Flooring, 1998 Plastic Laminates Symposium Proceedings

A moderate oxidizing hydrolysis of impregnated papers with potassium permanganate in nitric medium allows to isolate urea without degradation and thus to measure its quantity by the traditionnal method with dimethylaminobenzoldehyde. This technique has been successfully applied to determine the ratio of urea in backing layer and therfore to minimize its amount in flooring laminates.
