Improvements in Liquid Packaging Board Manufacturing Using a Polysilicate Microgel, 2000 Papermakers Conference Proceedings
Laurence J. Rys, Meggan Hostetler--A polysilicate microgel (PSM) inorganic microparticle was shown to outperform the latest version of highly structured, nanoparticle silica sol on a modern liquid packaging paperboard machine. The machine produces bleached liquid packaging board and cupstock. The main objective for using the PSM was to reduce microparticle cost. Other advantages such as increased production and decreased alkaline size usage were realized.
