Trends in Regulated Control of Chemical Defoamers, 1990 Papermakers Conference Proceedings
J. R. Nelson--More attention is needed to the causes, the process impact, end the economic costs of entrapped air in the papermaking process. A review of mechanical control and chemical control of entrapped air provides the background and rationale for future trends. Overcoming sheet quality problems and increasing production output by regulated control of defoamers offers the papermaker many new technology options, as well as significant cost reduction opportunities. Specific examples of new process sensing and control concepts are covered. Projection of technologies for the 1990s and beyond 2000 are now possible.
