The microparticulate process is discussed, together with the performance of an on-line zeta potential and drainage instrument. It is shown how the on-line instrument can be used to optimize the microparticulate process. The on-line instrument can also play a key role in the control of anionic trash, and to assess the thoroughness of mixing of headbox furnish, important pre-conditions to process optimization.
