My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
Historically, differential pressure control systems have been used as the main means of controlling dryer drainage systems on paper machines. For many years, the benefits of utilizing the measurement of blow-thru steam from the dryer section, termed flow control, has been understood and well documented. This paper discusses the application of the aforementioned control systems to the operation of a dryer drainage system and points out the advantages obtained by utilizing the information derived from both types of monitoring. Actual machine operating data is presented to illustrate the response and performance of the differential pressure and flow control dryer drainage systems under normal operating modes and sheet break conditions.
