The methods that are currently practiced for coated broke treatment have evolved to a new level. By incorporating new on-line technology, the use of coated broke in the papermakers furnish can be accomplished without the typical harmful effects of white pitch outbreaks. The on-line treatment of the coated broke stream reacted to changing conditions of white pitch components as well as changing consistencies often associated with broke furnish. In addition, the feedstock quality entering the machine furnish loop can be improved to the overall betterment of the system by negating wet end chemistry excursions. The chemical balance of thick stock systems is the next quality step towards achieving a capable papermaking process.
