To see the effect of the use of anionic polymers, as they are mixed with papermaking fibers before coming to the headbox of a paper machine.
The drainage of those fibers was studied using a modified G/W Drainage Retention Unit (Retention Aid Evaluation Variant or RAEV).
The work as carried out, is part of a program designed to understand how dual retention aid systems (consisting of an anionic polymer and a cationic polymer) affect the drainage of a papermaking furnish at the former of a paper machine.
