C. F. Baker Paper, in most cases, is an evolved rather than a designed product. In other words many grades of paper are made by modifying properties of a different but allied product. This practice does not always lead to the production of an optimized product but in many cases to a compromise. Over a period of time paper making furnishes have also ‘evolved’ as different sources of fibre have been identified and/or established. The changes of fibre usage have created new demands for refining methods and equipment.
