The paper describes the ATP Assay and why it offers advantages over conventional biological test methods for paper mill systems. ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) is present only in living cells. The assay uses a photometer to precisely and immediately quantify the amount of biological mass. The paper discusses the procedure and how it compares to other known test methods. Case histories are provided to show actual field experiences utilizing the ATP Assay.
