Newspapers are giving more attention to improving over-all running performance in their printing plants, and toward improving the appearance of their printed product. Quality standards for newsprint, and running performance targets have already been established in many newspaper plants. These standards are monitored on a monthly basis, and those suppliers that consistently fall below the minimum parameters could face the loss of orders or in the worst case, a cancelled newsprint contract. This paper will address some of the primary concerns newspapers have with respect to newsprint and what they expect from their suppliers.
