My TAPPI Story: McKenna Goulette
E.W. Thiele, P.E. ABB Flakt Inc. J. Seyed-Yagoobi, P.E. Texas A&M University R.H. Page, P.E. Texas A&M University Sr. H. Castillo - Garcia Smut-fit The multi-functional radial jet reattachment blow boxes, an alternative system to conventional pocket-ventilation systems, deliver a dry air directly onto the unsupported sheet in the open draw. The air flow lowers the humidity, improves the drying rate and moisture profiling, and enhances the sheet stability. The results of implementing this new ventilation technology into an existing paper machine are presented. All the benefits expected from the multi-functional radial jet reattachment technology were achieved. Specifically, installing 14 blow boxes at selected pockets of the drying section resulted in an up to 10 percent increase in production rate of various types of paper.
