Risto Turunen and Ken Finch Valmet Inc. Today the use of film-type size presses has widened to include the high speed pigmenting and coating of woodfree and wood-containing grades. To fulfill the requirements of these new concepts, metering elements and applicator roll cover materials had to be developed. To obtain the required paper quality, the base sheet and coating color properties also had to be optimized.
