Because of the permanent close of white water circuits, detrimental substances are becoming more and more concentrated. The main sources of soluble Colloids are raw materials like wood pulp and waste paper. They are not adsorbed by the solid part. Therefore they accumulate in the water and build up adhesive agglomerates on pipelines, refiners, tanks, wires etc. and dark spots and holes in the paper sheet. These anionic polymers can considerably reduce the quality and rate of paper production as well as the efficiency of cationic additives. The elimination of detrimental substances through neutralization of its anionic charge is an important point as well as measuring its quantitative amounts by using a charge titration.
