Papermaking problems can be broadly classified into two main categories: those affecting paper machine runnability and those affecting paper quality Both of these problem conditions may be resolved by applying a logical and systematic approach to troubleshooting. With true twin wire formers, troubleshooting quality problems is particularly challenging due to the added complication of restricted visibility in the forming and drainage zones. Logic diagrams have been developed to aid the papermaker in resolving twin wire paper machine operational and quality problems.
