Factors Influencing the Rate of Charge Decay in Cationic Systems, 1996 Papermakers Conference Proceedings
Charge decay was studied at measured levels of cationic polymer overdose. The rate of charge decay increased with increasing temperature and stock consistency, but decreased with increasing polymer molecular weight. Decay was faster with poly DADMAC than with DMA-epi polymers. Small changes in decay rates were observed with variations in degree of agitation, salt concentration up to 1000 parts per million NaCl and bleached chemical pulp type.
