Increasing Paper Making Efficiency: Four Steps to Process Chemistry Optimization, 1997 Papermakers Conference Proceedings

A substantial increase in papermaking efficiency may be achieved by improving process chemistry at the wet end. This paper identifies four problem areas which affect process chemistry efficiency and assigns solutions which hold potential for significant gain to the paper and board industry. Current papermaking practice, as it affects overall efficiency, is discussed. Four key steps to better quality and increased productivity are described, and an approach entailing quantification of process chemistry goals is presented.
