TAPPI Test Methods Program, 1992 Process & Product Quality Conference Proceedings
The TAPPI Test Methods program had its roots in the original formation of TAPPI, making it one of the oldest services provided for TAPPI members. Over the years, the TAPPI program has undergone a series of changes to streamline the procedures for approval of methods, resulting in the creation of the Test Methods Management Committee (TMMC) in 1982. The TMMC was formed to serve as a committee of the TAPPI Board of Directors and was given the directive to manage the overall program, not only to monitor the progress of the technical committees in reviewing existing methods, but also to encourage the appropriate committees to develop new methods that would complement advances in technology. TAPPI has also in the past served in official liaisons with ASTM, ANSI, and ISO; with the increasing emphasis on international standards and quality management, more interaction between these groups is planned for the immediate future. In 1992, over 260 methods comprise the set of TAPPI test procedures.
