Baldrige Award - An Agent for Transforming U. S. Business, 1992 Process & Product Quality Conference Proceedings
In just four years, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award has become the leading catalyst in focusing American business attention on the importance of quality management. The Baldrige Award criteria describe the principles of world-class quality management in a clear, meaningful and easily interpretable language. It provides companies, both large and small, with a comprehensive document for assessing their quality efforts in such vital areas as executive leadership, achievement of customer satisfaction, and employee involvement.
This paper addresses what the Baldrige Award is all about. The core values and concepts embodied in its seven criteria categories are described. How the award criteria can be used as a basis for self-assessment is examined, and findings as to key strengths and problem areas generally found during evaluations are discussed.
