Accelerating Culture Change to the Year 2000, 1993 Process & Product Quality Conference Proceedings
R.A. Peacock
Cultural change is a major result of adopting IS0 9000, as significant as any of the streamlining, organisational flattening and niche-marketing transformations of which change has been a pre-requisite.
As management sees the opportunities which IS0 9000 gives them for upgrading the system of management it becomes the agent by which old cultures can be changed.
As the IS0 train continues to gather steam towards and into the 21st century, changes and developments will fill existing gaps in IS0 9000. Training, Safety and Environmental requirements will continue to grow and be addressed.
The adoption of the Quality Management philosophy should result in formally including such aspects as engineering, maintenance and environmental disciplines in a Company’s longer-range plans. By doing so it ensures no function or discipline is excluded, and no Departments will be left at the station. And the "one-way" fare charged for adopting a continually evolving IS0 9000 will be less than would result from the requirement to take several journeys to implement different management systems.
