Laboratory Quality Systems, 1994 Process & Product Quality Conference Proceedings

Laboratories seeking accreditation or registration with an international body have no clear direction to take at this time. Some laboratories have obtained registration to ISO 9001, 9002, or 9003; some have been accredited to ISO/IEC Guide 25-1990. ANSI/ASQC Q2-1991 offers an additional set of guidelines. Registration to one of the ISO 9000 series does not assure that the laboratory is competent to perform the testing. ISO/IEC Guide 25-1990 is the most complete set of guidelines currently available to asses the competency of a laboratory as well as its quality system. Supplementing it with some guidelines from ANSI/ASQC Q2-1991 provides a complete quality system of which any laboratory might be proud.
