Surface Characterization by Partial-Coverage Printing and Image Analysis, 1996 Process & Product Quality Conference Proceedings

Surendra P. Singh, Per-Åke Johansson, J. Anthony Bristow - STFI

If a paper is printed with a small amount of ink and at a low printing pressure so as to allow only a partial coverage of the paper surface, the printed pattern reveals features of the surface which can be examined visually or using image analysis techniques. A number of different parameters which may be used to characterise this pattern and to provide in-formation about the surface roughness are presented and discussed in relation to other roughness parameters.
