Esa Tiikkaja--From the papermaker’s viewpoint, good runnability with no breaks means both increased production and income. Runnability is a more or less generic expression, and as such it cannot be measured by any direct means. Some paper tests tell something about it, but these values are available too late for actions. There are few direct pulp measurements that are related to runnability. Fibre properties are among these, and they are therefore important indicators of runnability. The fibre cross-dimensional measurements have also a strong effect to the pulp’s strength potential.
