Customer demands for verifiable quality are increasing sharply in this competitive global environment. At the same time, reductions in staff have made it more difficult to provide the required testing and support necessary to maintain both a high quality product and good customer relations. This paper outlines the current capability of on-line sensors used for quality measurement and control, and provides examples of how they may be integrated with laboratory measurements, automated testing equipment, and other process management tools to form a comprehensive quality management system.
