Washer Efficiency Gains Through Improved Filtrate Handling, 2000 Pulping / Process & Product Quality Conference Proceedings
J. S. Antkowiak--The richest filtrate in a rotary-drum washing stage is generated in the formation zone of a washer. Segregating that filtrate allows the remaining, weaker filtrate to be preferentially used to dilute the in coming stock thereby improving the stage’s efficiency. An economic analysis of this method’s potential is presented along with a brief discussion on how to calculate such a stage’s Equivalent Displacement Ratio (EDR).
