Hydrogen Peroxide Brightening - Medium or High Consistency Which Way to Go?, 1990 Pulping Conference Proceedings
Mechanical pulp mills installing hydrogen peroxide brightening capability are faced with a choice of various types of equipment including thickening devices, chemical mixers, bleaching towers, washers and bleach liquor makeup systems. When peroxide bleaching, chemical usage efficiency and ultimate brightness gain are affected strongly by the consistency of the bleaching stage and the removal of species harmful to peroxide stability prior to bleaching. Not surprisingly, new peroxide bleaching installations which operate at high consistency are significantly more expensive and potentially more complicated than medium consistency systems.
This roundtable will address the issues involving proper choice of equipment to bleach mechanical pulp with hydrogen peroxide. Both practical experience and theoretical modelling will be discussed. NOTE: There is no additional documentation available for this session.
