Pretreatment Before Oxygen Delignification of Bisulphite Pulp, 1990 Pulping Conference Proceedings
The effects of various pretreatments, both acidic and alkaline, on Mg++-base oxygen delignification of bisulphite pulp have been investigated. Some interesting phenomena, which are different from those reported for sulphate pulp, are observed. Sodium chlorite and chlorine dioxide pretreatments are found to be most attractive. Short and chlorination-free bleaching sequences, with greatly reduced AOX/TOCl, COD and colour of bleach liquor effluent, are reported.
