My TAPPI Story: Rory Wolf
TAPPISAFE
Detailed experimental investigation on pulping has been carried out in the laboratory using Rice Straw for producing bleachable grade pulp soda and Soda-oxygen delignification processes are followed to compare their effects on yield, Kappa No., strength and optical properties of pulps. The parametric effects of oxygen partial pressure and time at maximum temperature in the latter ease are also examined. It is evident from the experimental results that significant gain has been achieved in respect to yield, rejects, lignin content, Kappa No., Alpha-Cellulose, strength and optical properties by use of oxygen. 4 Kg/ cm2 oxygen partial pressure with 40 min’s time at maximum temperature has been found to be suitable condition for pulping though the difference at 4 kg/cm2(g) and 5 kg/c 2 (g) pressures gives marginal, from the yield angle.
