Monox-L (TM) Bleaching Agent in the Chlorination Stage, 1990 Pulping Conference Proceedings

Monox-L㤠bleaching agent has been successfully used at several pulp mills as a replacement for both DI and H in such sequences as CDEOHED. CDEO DED and In addition to these uses, Monox-L offers several significant advantages when used in the chlorination stage. The substitution of Monox-L for chlorine can reduce dioxins to non-detectable levels and reduce AOX values to about the same level as using 70% D in the C-stage. Monox-L will also produce a higher viscosity pulp than that obtained by using only chlorine in the first stage. This paper reports on the bleaching results, the chemistry, and the environmental data obtained from using Monox-L in the chlorination stage.
