Direct Connection to Close a Screen Room, 1990 Pulping Conference Proceedings

A mill producing fully bleached Kraft pulp from softwood has made improvements in their cooking and bleaching processes which have increased the need for high shive removal in their pulp screens. The existing gravity screens were replaced with a four stage pressure screen system. Contoured slotted plates are installed in all three positions for maximum cleanliness. The system is installed with only a single pump, no interstage chests, and is controlled from a central DCS. Operating experience and pulp quality results are presented.
