Reducing Levels of AOX, 1991 Pulping Conference Proceedings

The potential of the Lignox concept on oxygen predelignified hardwood kraft pulp was in-vestigated. It was possible to achieve both in the laboratory and in a mill a special-grade pulp of above 80% ISO. This pulp could then be fully bleached utilizing the D(EP)D sequence while producing the AOX level of 0.5 kg/tp which with a proper effluent strategy could be even further reduced.
