Alkaline Peroxide Pretreatment in the Sugar Cane Bagasse Chemimechanical Pulping, 1991 Pulping Conference Proceedings
Depithed sugar cane bagasse was pretreated with soda, peroxide and other additives, varying the amount of soda and peroxide and the degree of temperature and treatment time. The pretreated bagasse was defibrated and refined in Sprout-Waldron 30 cm diameter disc refiner. The refined pulp was screened and its physical characteristics were determined in accordance with Tappi Technics. Some of the pulps, after hydrogen peroxide bleaching, have good enough properties to be used in newsprint and similar papers.
