On-Line Instrumentation Can Help Optimize the Deinking Operation, 1992 Pulping Conference Proceedings

The increased use of deinked pulp for different grades in the paper industry triggered the request for better on-line instrumentation in the deinking plant, similar to the paper machine’s wet end in order to optimize the process.

Adapting the paper mill’s well established instrumentation technology to the deinking plant opens new possibilities to monitor and later on to automatically control the process.

Field trials of a slightly modified paper machine wet end instrumentation system in a Swedish deinking plant have been shown to give useful and reliable on-line information. This instrumentation system is seen as a useful tool for optimization and trouble-shooting of the deinking process.
