Comparison of Bench Scale and Pilot Plant Flotation of Photocopied Office Waste Paper, 1992 Pulping Conference Proceedings

Comparisons of bench scale and pilot plant scale flotation devices are reported for three flotation chemicals and several variations of operating conditions. Results are presented in terms of flotation efficiencies and distribution of particle sizes removed in the 50-300 um diameter range. Over the range of conditions studied, bench scale efficiencies are always higher, but strongly correlated with pilot scale efficiencies. The distribution of particle sizes removed is very similar for all trials, both bench and pilot scale, although somewhat dependent on overall flotation efficiency.
