Hydrogen Peroxide Bleaching Using Pentaerythritol as Bleaching Aide, 1992 Pulping Conference Proceedings
The effect of pentaerythritol (PE) on hydrogen peroxide stability is investigated in single stage hydrogen peroxide (P) bleaching and two stage hydrogen peroxide/sodium hydrosulfite (PY) bleaching. Thermomechanical pulp (TMP) was used throughout this investigation. It appears that PE alone influences the bleaching mechanism by changing the reaction pathway of hydrogen peroxide, as well as the sodium hydrosulfite. However, this limited effect of PE can be greater when other known stabilizers such as sodium silicate, magnesium sulfate, and chelants such as DTPA or DTPMP are added.
