Experiences in Introducing Non-Polluting Technologies at the Sulfite Pulp Factory of Blankenstein, 1993 Pulping Conference Proceedings

Rosenthal has been founded in 1883. During more than 100 years the former ground wood mill has developed into a highly modern pulp manufacturing firm. A short explanation of the actual situation of the company is given. The following plants and installations were

newly constructed:

- a complete wood preparation plant

- a store for ship seasoning

- a Continuous Kamyr Digester including washing diffusor

- a screening plant

- a five-stage bleaching plant

- a cleanering plant for bleached pulp

- a de-watering machine with Flakt Dryer

- a modern recycling plant for chemicals

- a fresh water treatment plant and

- a waste water purification plant

The greatest attention was directed on optimizing the whole plant technically and technologically.

Thus a pre-impregnating vessel, a pressure diffusor, the slot screening plant, a pressure knotter and a new cleanerung were installed.

The most recent example of continuous modernization is the oxygen peroxide reactor, which is used for delignification after the digester. So the company is in the position to produce 100 % TCF pulp.

In the second part there are some explanations concerning our strategy which we see in controlling the quality of pulp in line with market demands and in using non-polluting technologies of production.
