My TAPPI Story: Rory Wolf
TAPPISAFE
Input minus output equals accumulation is the classic chemical engineering material balance equation. Any chemicals added to aid in deinking will either leave the process in the pulp, sludge or waste water streams, or accumulate in recycle streams. The distribution of these chemicals within the process must be of concern when considering waste minimization through
recycle, the disposal of clarifier sludge, and the treatment and eventual disposal of waste water. This paper addresses the distribution of deinking chemicals within the process.
