In the early 1980’s a trend started where both customers and suppliers focused their woodhandling technology on developing the process towards higher capacities and lower investments, but suffered from a lack of knowledge and innovations on how to improve the quality and profitability of the total paper making process.
These high capacity debarking-chipping lines were efficient, but the drawbacks were increased wood losses and lower chip quality.
