Upgrading of ONP for LWC Grades, 1994 Pulping Conference Proceedings

A description is given of general market, conditions for coated grades, including leading producers worldwide, and growth in demand in the United States. General properties and requirements for Light Weight Coated (LWC) grades are discussed with consideration regarding secondary fiber content. Also, pilot plant work upgrading deinked ONP obtained from a mill, for LWC applications, is reviewed. Finally, additional laboratory test work for deinking and bleaching of ONP to make higher brightness pulp is discussed.
