New Technology for Chip Thickness Screening, 1994 Pulping Conference Proceedings

T. E. Vala

The benefits of chip thickness screening and processing have been well established for kraft pulping.

A new generation of screening equipment, specifically bar screens, has been operating for over two years at several mill locations. Operating data obtained from these installations have shown improvements in operating performance, reductions in wear and maintenance, and increases in pulping performance.

This paper will discuss this new equipment and its operational methods. It will identify special performance difference over earlier technologies.
