New Additive for Enhancing Brightness Gain Across Pressurized Deinking Modules, 1995 Pulping Conference Proceedings

Susan C. Alexander

Callaway Chemical Company

In recent demonstrations at a Southeastern recycle deinking mill, a new additive proved to be very effective in enhancing the brightness gain across Pressurized Deinking Modules. The additive increased brightness gain by at least 2.5 points. Other advantages realized were lower bleach usage, improved clarification and higher pulp yield. Laboratory studies have indicated that the additive is effective in wash cycle deinking as well as flotation deinking.
