Product quality upgrading of an existing Ca-sulfite mill is made by changing bleaching sequence and installing a new hot alkaline extraction stage. Special pulp with an alpha cellulose content of 96-97 will be manufactured . Grades for acetate and other chemical usages are primary target. Bleach plant effluent evaporation is installed and environ- mental impact is reduced by 50 %.
