Pressure screen filters with EBD (electron beam drilled) micro perforated cylinders have found many uses in the pulp and paper industry. Several years ago these units found acceptance in the pulp mill for scalping fiber from black liquor streams in an effort to reduce and even eliminate evaporator fouling due to fiber contamination. Today, use of the pressure screen filter with EBD micro perforated cylinders has expanded into the recycle mill and paper machine area.
The multitude of uses include:
1. Scalping of fiber from weak Black Liquor before evaporation
2. Fiber recovery from wastepaper thickening effluent streams prior to clarification
3. Removal of fiber and debris from dirty white water streams in the ecycle mill for reuse
4. Removal of fiber in paper mill white water for re-use
This paper describes and shares field performance data for the Black Clawson Liqui-Filterâ„¢, a pressure screen filtering device utilizing EBD micro perforated cylinders, in the applications listed above.
