Screening for Stickies - Is There a New Slotted Screen System On The Horizon For Your Mill?, 1997 Pulping Conference Proceedings
Advances in screening technology are providing recycle plant operators with an amazing new tool for removing stickies and other contaminants from their recycled fiber. To begin, a loose definition of these “New Screens” will be attempted, since they are not only different from older screens, but somewhat different from each other. Next, a basic review of the recycled pulp grades where these screens are used. Various fiber applications and the options for location of these newly developed screening systems in new recycle plants or additions to old plant upgrades will be discussed. Finally, examples of successful installations and some operating experiences will be shared.
