Evaluation of Contaiminants Methodology -- Critical Review, 1997 Pulping Conference Proceedings
There are many methods proposed for the determination of contaminants in a secondary fiber system. Some are qualitative while some are quantitative, ranging from the old TAPPI dirt count chart to very advanced technologies based on computerized image analyses systems.
This paper will critically review the current available methods and those under development for their application in contaminant identification in the lab/mill environment. One of the new methods combines an innovative color and advanced morphologic image analysis to yield results quantified by contaminant type.
