Maximum Achievable Control - Technology of Sulfite Pulping, 1997 Pulping Conference Proceedings

This paper will explore the process control and mathematical modeling problems related to modeling of different stages of the sulfite cooking process. Attention will be paid to the current gap between process problems and existing knowledge and ways to decrease this gap. The paper will also discuss future work on process models including artificial intelligence and expert systems. Examples of the achieved benefits related to quality variability and yield of this modeling application at the Fraser Papers Inc. (Canada), Edmundston, N.B. mill are presented.
